Listening
The album of January was for sure "The New Sound" by Geordie Greep. Took a couple listens but it's been in constant rotation since then. Besides that:
- PUP - A bunch of stuff across their discography while in the gym.
- Kendrick Lamar - GNX
- Foxing - Foxing
- Los Campesinos! - All Hell

The New Sound's cover art.
Games
Last year didn't feel like a standout year for games for me, but I managed to complete a few that I enjoyed quite a bit.
In no particular order:
- Dragon's Dogma 2
- Mouthwashing
- Balatro
- Quake
- Balatro
- Brotato
- Elden Ring

Loved Quake 1, huge fan of the shambler in particular.
Cooking
I enjoy cooking; if I can get a few hours free on a weekend I'll almost always fill it up by making some new recipe. It's been harder and harder to get that kind of time though, so I've been trying to find new ways to scratch that itch. While I was out in Chicago with my brother, I was trying to figure out how to make hot sauce. I read through a few articles and picked up the book on the subject. I ended up throwing together a batch and made a jug of mead while I was at it since it seemed fairly straightforward.

Ferments sitting on the shelf on day one.
A few weeks of sitting in the pantry, and both were ready for consumption.
The hot sauce ended up being quite nice, though maybe not as spicy as I'd like? The blend of thai chilies and serrano peppers gives it a really nice flavor, and the basil and fish sauce give it some unique notes. It tasted extremely hot out of the jar, though I've found it's mellowed quickly.
The mead I pulled a bit early to try - it's fermented quite nicely but its extremely sweet. It's something that goes great after dinner, but maybe only for a glass or two. I'm looking to make another batch and age it a bit more next time.
